About our school

South Columbus Preparatory Academy at German Village is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades K through 8 in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio grades every school on the state report card. This school earned a 4-Star rating for both Gap Closing and Progress, meaning more students here are catching up, and more are growing year over year, than at most schools in the state.

South Columbus Prep is built around high academics. That means the bar is higher than what most students were getting before. Teachers know where each student actually is, not just where the grade level says they should be. If a student is behind, they get caught up. If they’re ahead, they get pushed. The academic approach isn’t decoration. It’s the whole point.

Community School

South Columbus Preparatory Academy at German Village is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by Charter School Specialists, which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States. Community Schools (Charter Schools) offer families an alternative to the local public school.
